The road was built using mesh wire AND high grade rebar steel, ensuring it will last a long time. The road was done in less than 3 weeks and at the end of the project the person we put in charge of the money provided everyone involved with a detailed account of money spent including receipts.

The main road leading to Lang Khaii used to stop at the government electrical station back in 2004.
In 2006 they built the government trash site a little further on and made the road extend to it (the paving stopped at the Ao Leuk road).
In 2007 the government built a water reservoir by Tanote bay, so the road will now extend to it. And that road goes right by the turn-off to Lang Khaii. So there is a 2-lane highway leading from Mae Haad to the turn-off to Lang Khaii. It hardly ever has any traffic. (I had to wait a few minutes to get this photo of a passing motorist on it)
The current turn-off to Lang Khaii from this main road is still a dirt road, and the residents agree that we like it that way. You can spend all day in Lang Khaii and never hear a truck or ATV. If we paved the short bit from the main road to our newly paved road it would encourage traffic down our way. We’d rather have our quiet. The road gets ruts in rainy season like any dirt road, but not too bad. When it gets bad, we all pitch in and have it bulldozed.
