1988 Honda Prelude

While living overseas, I came home for the holidays for 8 weeks back in 2004 and needed a car to get around in. Rather than rent a car, I decided to just buy this inexpensive and reliable car and sell it when I left. It had 224,000 miles when I bought it and I put over 2000 miles on it in 6 weeks without a single problem.

The car was a 2.0 Liter 4 cylinder, with an automatic. It had the S4 sport shifting option and a large power sunroof. Everything on the car was in perfect working order except the clock. I installed a CD player, new speakers, and subwoofer when I bought the car (I love my music!!). I put in an external input so I could use it with an iPod. And the CD player even had a clock! :) The seats and carpets were torn up, so I threw on some seat covers and found some discarded carpet and made floor mats. I bought some matching spray paint and sanded and painted over a few bits of rust and it ended up looking as good as it ran. I think I ended up selling it for $900 when I left.

This car had a rear window sticker that read "Hothead Paisan Finishing School for Girls". The girl I bought the car from told me I'd want to take it off as it was some lesbian group and I was clearly not a lesbian. HPFSG was not just an ordinary lesbian group either, I guess it was sort of the wilder and crazier types of lesbians, or thats how it was described to me by this person. Enough said- the sticker stays on!! Every now and then I'd have some women drive by and honk and be waving by the time they were passing, and abrubtly stop waving as they saw me behind the wheel. I've since looked at the HPFSG website and it looks like just a site where they sell stuff with that logo - I was a bit dissapointed as I expected to find something a bit more shocking.
